Housing Programs

Community Housing:

  • The Community Housing program provides subsidized rental housing to low-income families who cannot afford suitable private sector accommodation. Rent, which includes heat, water and sewer expenses, is based on 30 per cent of a household’s income.

Lodge:

  • The Seniors Lodge program offers units, meals, housekeeping and other services and recreational opportunities for seniors who are functionally independent, with or without the help of existing community-based services. North Peace Housing Foundation’s Lodge rates are comprised of rent based on 30% of a household’s income, plus a resident service component. To protect residents with lower income, the Foundation adjusts the monthly rate to ensure that each resident who is 65 years of age or older is left with a legislated minimum monthly disposable income.

Rent Supplement:

  • Rent Supplement programs provide assistance to households to maintain affordable and suitable rental accommodation.
  • North Peace Housing Foundation pays a Rent Assistance Benefit directly to an eligible tenant to assist with rental costs. The subsidy is based on the difference between 30 per cent of a household’s income and an agreed upon market rent, to a maximum subsidy set by the Foundation.

Senior Affordable Housing:

  • Owned and operated by NPHF, Garden Court is a 63-unit mixed income, 55+ apartment complex in the Town of Peace River. Garden Court has single bedroom rents set at rates that are below market, plus it has single and two-bedroom units at market rates.

Senior Self-contained:

  • The Seniors Self-contained Housing program provides apartment-type accommodation to seniors with low or moderate income who are functionally independent, with or without the assistance of existing community-based services. Rent, which includes heat, water, and sewer expenses, is based on 30 per cent of a household’s income.
